Jaime Heredia Amaya 'El Parrón' was born in Granada in 1955
and learnt to sing by listening to his mother
Rosa Maya, 'La Rochina' who sang in the Zambra
caves of the Sacromonte, to his grandfather 'El
Parrón', and above all his uncle, Juanillo 'el
Gitano'. At the age of twelve he was already well
known for his performances in the Gypsy caves
of the Sacromonte and the famous flamenco club,
the oldest in Spain, 'la Peña La Platería'. He
went on to perform all over Andalaucía and throughout
Spain in the theatre shows "Macama jonda" and
"Sueño Terral".
Continuing the family tradition Jaime taught his
daughter Marina, now a popular flamenco singer,
the flamenco art, a partnership that was explored
in the TV programme 'Dawn in Granada' alongside
the flamenco dancer Manolete with his daughter
Judea, also a dancer.

Jaime has performed in India, China, Europe, America,
Japan, Egypt and Morocco where he performed for
the King. Jaime has participated in recordings
such as 'Grana cante por Tangos', 'Villancicos
del Sacromonte' , Emilio Maya's CD " Temple' as
well as his own CD 'Pan con Aciete y Azucar'.
Considered an 'artist's artist' Jaime 'El Parrón'
continues a flamenco tradition which is rarely
found nowadays, that of cante jonda gitano, the
Gypsy deep song. His bar in the Albaicín was a
meeting place for many flamencos, and even the
legendary Camerón slept on his sofa after a night
singing.
In 2004 he worked with the flamencologist Miguel
Angel Gonzaléz demonstrating various songs and
styles at his lectures.
A recent collaboration, alongside the guitarist Emilio Maya, is the group 'Chekaras y Mayas' a fusion of flamenco with Moroccan music alongside the famous Chekara family from Tetuan who play Andalusi music.
